Why did we choose Most of our early travels focused on wilderness scenery for Craig's photography business. The locations were often very remote. Nearby motels were all but nonexistent, but campgrounds were common. So we purchased a motorhome and used our towed car (a Jeep) to get us wherever we needed to go. What started out as short trips soon became several months in length. And our focus began to shift from scenery to historical places. We even enjoyed a 2-1/2 year stint at "fulltiming" (extended RV living). Happily, RV travel enabled us to explore many intriguing places as far away as Alaska's Inside Passage, the northern Rockies, the eastern seaboard and the desert southwest. Although we now live in a mountain home in California's Gold Country, we still prefer RV travel for its convenience and flexibility. RVs we've owned: 1991 Fleetwood Montara - 23'. Purchased used, this was a good starter rig - short and maneuverable. 1997 Safari Trek - 24'. Spacious for its size because the queen-sized bed lowered from the ceiling, turning the living room into a bedroom at night. 2006 Itasca Meridian - 32'. Diesel pusher for power and slide-outs adding more space and comfort. | ||
